Sustainability in our family business – for the economy, people and the environment 

For us as a family business, sustainability is much more than just a buzzword or a shortterm trend. It is a deeply rooted attitude that shapes our daily actions and decisions. We take a holistic view of sustainability: it encompasses treating people with respect, taking responsibility for the environment and ensuring the economic stability of our company. These three dimensions – people, environment and economy – form the foundation of our business activities and are inextricably linked.

In order to consistently implement this claim, we follow internationally recognised management systems that provide us with structured and verifiable standards. These help us to systematically implement sustainable processes, continuously improve them and take responsibility at all levels. Our company‘s own code of conduct forms the binding framework that ensures the integration of social, ecological and economic aspects into our everyday work.

As a manufacturing industrial company, we are aware of our ecological impact. 
That is why we focus on resource-saving processes, circular economy and the targeted use of renewable energies. 
Our environmental strategy is based on clear principles and concrete measures, which we are continuously developing further.

Energy & climate protection


We continuously optimise our energy consumption and reduce our CO2 emissions. To this end, we analyse our processes, identify energy-intensive areas and implement targeted improvements

Certified energy management DIN EN ISO 50001

This system enables us to identify potential savings and make targeted investments in renewable energies.
 

Own energy generation

A photovoltaic system currently covers around 10% of our electricity requirements. This is supplemented by solar thermal energy and modern heating technology

Efficient building use

Our production sites are operated in a resource-efficient manner.

Resource conservation & circular economy

A central component of our environmental commitment is the efficient and responsible use of resources. The circular economy plays a key role in this.

  • Use of sustainable and recyclable materials
  • Reduction of material consumption and waste
  • Recycling and return to the production process
  • Over 50 separate waste fractions (documented and analysed)
  • Monitoring of disposal, recycling and reuse

Water & Biodiversity

We use water primarily for cleaning production facilities and for cooling. We take care to use water sparingly, regularly analyse potential savings and comply with all applicable legal requirements for water protection.

We actively promote biodiversity on our company premises:

  • Planting of a 215-metre-long hedge made up of native trees and shrubs
  • Planning of a meadow orchard with 30 fruit trees
  • Creation of a 4,237 m² wildflower meadow
  • Infiltration basins, insect hotels and water collection basins

Environmental management & employee involvement

Environmental awareness begins in everyday life. That is why we actively involve our employees in our environmental and energy policy – through training courses, workshops and clear responsibilities. Our environmental guidelines include:

Sustainable training – securing the future

Practical training with prospects is a central component of our sustainability strategy. At SAB Bröckskes, we specifically promote young talent – from industrial and technical to commercial fields. Our trainees have been among the best in the country for many years. For this commitment, we have been recognised several times by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the Middle Lower Rhine as the best training company.

However, we not only live sustainability in the quality of our training, but also in its content: our trainees have the opportunity to be trained as energy scouts. In this role, they identify hidden efficiency potential within the company and make an active contribution to climate protection and resource conservation. At the same time, they learn early on to take responsibility for environmentally conscious behaviour in everyday business life.

In our trainee working group, they also acquire project management skills, strengthen teamwork and independently drive forward sustainable projects. In this way, they actively shape the future – for themselves and for the company.
