What does Ethernet and CATLine Ethernet mean?
Ethernet is the most widely used protocol for data transmission. Current standards achieve up to 10 Gbit/s in office applications and even higher values in data centres. SAB is specialised in flexible applications based on the standard EN 50288-x-2. For different application lengths we offer the appropriate section:
reference values are the following
70 m: AWG 26
90 m: AWG 24
110 m: AWG 22
What does PROFINET mean?
PROFINET is a sub-area of Ethernet. For the special needs of automation as for example real time communication, the protocol has additional features. Nearly all of our CATLine products are compatible with PROFINET.
What is the difference between EtherCAT and PROFINET?
EtherCAT and PROFINET use the same Ethernet cables. In the meantime EtherCAT is a public standard (IEC 61158) while PROFINET is designed by a corporate community.
