As a specialist manufacturer of cables and wires, we understand the specific requirements of safety-critical applications – especially in potentially explosive areas. Even though cables are not subject to certification in accordance with the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, they are an indispensable component of electrical explosion protection.
Our new Gigabit Ethernet ExLD cables have been specially developed for use in the ignition protection types Ex-d (flameproof enclosure) and Ex-e (increased safety). They fully comply with the requirements of IEC/EN 60079-14, which serves as the binding basis for the planning, selection, and installation of electrical components in hazardous areas.
ExLD cables are characterized by their particularly robust, compact, and circular design. High-quality polyurethane sheathing materials ensure lasting mechanical strength and reliable sealing in cable glands – even under high pressure loads.
A key quality feature is the excellent longitudinal tightness, which prevents both ignition flashovers and the dangerous spread of combustible gases into non-explosion-proof areas. Our cables easily pass the pressure test of at least five seconds required by the standard – proof of their high system safety.
In addition, our Ex cables meet the highest requirements for:
- Flame resistance (according to IEC 60332-1-2 / -2-2)
- UV and weather resistance (according to VDE 0276-605)
- Resistance to oil and drilling mud (according to EN 50363-10-2 and NEK 606)
This makes them ideal for use in harsh industrial environments such as chemical plants, refineries, or offshore platforms.
