Applications of ETFE-, FEP-, PFA Cables
Extreme harsh environments demand highly resistant materials. These requirements are fulfilled by our cables made of ETFE, FEP or PFA. These cables can be used for a temperature range from -90°C up to + 260°C. Furthermore, our ETFE, FEP and /or PFA insulated cables are resistant against many chemical influences with high mechanical resistance at the same time.
Possible application fields are for example chemical industry, furnace construction and telecommunication.
ETFE is particularly used when chemical resistance and high mechanical strength are required. It is characterised by very good abrasion resistance, high tensile strength and a more robust surface compared to FEP and PFA. In addition, ETFE is lighter and has high radiation and UV resistance, making it ideal for applications in communications engineering, aviation or environments with increased stress.
These cables are used for example in news technologies if high demands for resistance against chemicals and solvents must be fulfilled. Further advantages are the low and high temperature resistance as well as the good electrical insulating characteristics with low, nearly frequency-independent dielectric characteristics.

Compared to ETFE, FEP offers even greater chemical resistance combined with excellent flexibility, even at low temperatures. Thanks to its excellent electrical insulation properties, it is frequently used in high-frequency technology and communications engineering. Another advantage is the exceptional transparency of FEP, which also makes it interesting for optical applications or in areas where visual inspection of the cables is required.

Exemplary areas of application:
Our type Bl TA 180 C is suitable for extreme environmental conditions. This cable type is designed for use in engine rooms of ships for example as connection cable for the control of marine diesel engines. It is high temperature resistant and shows a very good resistance against oils and chemicals
PFA combines the chemical resistance of PTFE with the improved processability of thermoplastic fluoropolymers. It is suitable for extreme temperature ranges up to +250 °C and remains flexible. Typical areas of application are demanding process industries such as chemical and semiconductor manufacturing, where maximum purity and resistance to aggressive chemicals are required. PFA is also used in communications engineering where a combination of excellent insulation performance, high temperature resistance, longterm stability and high dynamic strength is required.
